Restoring this window was a new challenge. In addition to the cracked pieces and collapsing lead, the image in the center was something I had not run into before. Rather than being painted, it was a photo (or some other type of material) encased between two pieces of clear glass. The length of time it lasted was impressive, but if you look closer, you can se how it was shifting downward and to the right. It had dissolved into a thousand pieces. After much deliberation, we decided to remove it and like paper ashes after a fire, it fell completely apart. The owners eventually tracked down a new, somewhat smaller centerpiece from another artist that required an additional circle of Spectrum Krinkle glass be added to fill out the space. I’m happy with the way it turned out and look forward to having a photo of the window once it is re0installed back into the home.
